Dear Tatsuhiko Takimoto, I am a fan of your work “Welcome to the NHK”. I would like to tell you just these words: “Thank you”. It took me 6 years to do so, since I started to think I would have liked to write to you. I believe your work saved me and I hope you will forgive me if I want to share with you my story in a nutshell. When I was 14, I had huge problems in my social environment and I got quite depressed because of that. While I was severely going down this road, I discovered the “anime world” and, in this way, I discovered “Welcome to the NHK” as well. “I am a brave soldier”, or in the Italian translation “I was a brave soldier who knew how to fight”. That sentence in the last chapter of the story has been a turning point in my life and since then I started a long and difficult journey that got me where I am now. I travelled, made new friends and started a completely new life. Now that I am 24, I am deeply grateful you wrote this story, and I will keep those Sato’s words in my mind forever. I guess you already received many letters like this one, but I still hope you will appreciate it and make you aware of what meant to me your efforts. I wish you all the best and thank you again.

「ありがとう」という言葉をお伝えしたいです。あなたに手紙を書きたいと考えてから、実際にそうするのに６年かかりました。あなたの仕事が私を救ったと私は信じています。その私の短い話をあなたにシェアすることをお許しいただければと思います。
私が14歳の時、私は自分の社会的な環境に大きな問題を抱えていました。そのために私は非常に落ち込んでいました。その辛い道を歩いている間に、私は「アニメの世界」を発見し、そのようにして「NHKへようこそ」も発見しました。
「俺は勇敢な戦士だ」という言葉、イタリア語の翻訳では「私は戦う方法を知っている勇敢な兵士でした」という言葉。物語の最終章にあるその文章が、私の人生の転換点でした。それを見たことで、私は自分が今現在いる場所へと、私を連れて行く長く困難な旅を始めたのです。
私は旅行し、新しい友達を作り、全く新しい生活を始めました。24歳になった今、私はあなたがこの物語を書いてくれたことに深く感謝しています。私はあの佐藤の言葉を、私の心の中に永遠に保ちたいと思います。
